  Steering Arm routine bring up
Posted by: Bob Culver - 16-12-2017, 10:40 AM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (94)

Ths topic is of such vital importance to Seven owners it needs t be regularly brought to attention for newcomers, and must appear in the Search function.

The topic is very well covered under its own heading on David Cochrane’s site.
Note that cracks also occur at the shoulder flange (which is basically the same on replacement arms.) Arms must seat firmly on the left and right edges of the flange and not primarily the middle, and be firmly tensioned.

I dunno what has happened to the Forum. There has not been a dud dynamo, knocking torque tube, wayward front axle, or muddled brake levers for weeks.

Thumbs Down Scottish Speedy
Posted by: AllAlloyCup - 13-12-2017, 11:43 AM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (23)

A few years back I was given , by Keith Elliott, a pre-war roll of 35mm
B&W negative which had never been printed!Keith rallied and trialled MG’s
Before the war and owned garages in Edinburgh

The roll of film had interesting RAF images of Hawker Hawk biplanes
Plus a series taken at a MGCC? Trial, Moorfoots? In 1936/37/38?
A big event as Works teams from Allard, M.G., Singer etc were all represented.
In the mix was a nice photo of a Speedy which  I thought I’d share.
Note the Knobblies!!

  1927 Austin publicity booklet
Posted by: 3W7 - 12-12-2017, 08:06 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (2)

Bonsoir,

I just found a booklet of 20 pages within a light-grey cover called "La suprématie de la Austin Seven"
The text is fully in French, illustrated with 9 b&w photos and about its succeses in record-breaking and races up to the 1st place in september 1927 in the "Course de 500 Milles, pour la preuve du combustible, à Brooklands" if you see what it means!
Its size is 13cm wide and 20,1cm high and it wears the ref : Pub. No. 595B
It also refers the reader to the catalogue 611E for details of a saloon similar to the one page 72 of C. Harvey's book.

It looks so new although the staples are devenitively 1927 looking and I can't find a reason for some one having made a reprint. Also september was the exact time to publish such a catalogue for the october 1927 Salon de l'Auto in Paris.
Could you confirm the date ?
Thanks
Jean

  Austin 7 Special C.C.Gregory 1992 info
Posted by: Alextait1 - 09-12-2017, 11:12 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (12)

Good evening all,

I have recently purchased an A7 special.  It has a badge attached to the chassis with "C.C.GREGORY 1992" stamped on it.

The Chassis no is 270238
Engine no M19454
Reg RVS 147 (although this may have been changed)

I understand the previous owner bought the car to restore at a Richard Edmonds auction in Aug 13.

Any further info would be much appreciated.  I have attempted to attach a few photos.  I've also slightly changed my username as I couldn't log on with my old email address.

Merry Christmas,

Alex

  Wiring
Posted by: David.H - 09-12-2017, 06:10 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (8)

I am still reeling from that dreadful photograph from Holland.....however my question could be relevant.
When did Austin stop putting wires in "armoured" cable protection? there seems to have been a period when the wires were simply routed, not encased in a cloth covered loom. From when to when? any information welcomed before I start re-wiring!
