  Advice on Clutch change
Posted by: mk1-mark - 18-12-2018, 09:49 AM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (13)

Hi,

New to A 7 Ownership & my son & I have just started our first bit of maintenance for next year.  The clutch was a bit slippery after Adam's last outing to Harewood at the end of last season, so first on the list is the clutch.  We got the gearbox off last night, but are struggling to understand the instructions in the big red Austin 7 workshop manual opn how to remove & refit the clutch / flywheel assembly.

I would be very grateful for any tips that anyone could give.

Also, tips on riveting the clutch material onto the plate would be appreciated.  Never having done this before.

Thanking you in anticipation.

  Gearbox thrust washer

This might result in an embarrassing admission but can someone tell me if the flat steel bit flush with the synchro cone here is the splined thrust washer that goes between the 1st and 2nd gears on the main shaft? This is from a 4 speed 2 synchro gearbox.

  Parts Collection
Posted by: Zetomagneto - 16-12-2018, 11:12 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (2)

I have bought a 12/4 crankshaft on eBay, it was collect only.Collection by carrier is not good enough for this seller, he won't put in a box for me even though I have told him I will arrange collection and mail a collection label.
Is there a kind soul here who would collect in person from Cambridge, wrap it in newspapers or similar put it in a box and I will arrange collection. Obviously prepared to pay for the favour.
Here's hoping!

  Engine Number Identification

Is there a site anywhere that would help me to identify an engine type or its age from its number: M104927?

Regards,

  Body Sag
Posted by: williamsderbys - 16-12-2018, 06:02 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (2)

My 28 Chum has a distinct sag so that the top of the drivers door has about a 1/4" gap. This prevents the door top 'holder' from working properly.
I realise the answer is a rebuild but it is quite original and if i take the body off it would inevitably lead to changes to the interior.
Is it possible to 'wedge' the rear of the body to sort of rectify?

Can anyone identify this model, i was given this photo by an elderly couple from Abergavenny 40yrs ago, they told me this photo was taken in Kent. they told me they were always worried about the car catching fire due to the sparks from the front fabric coupling and a leaky petrol tank, please feel free to use this photo in the gallery.

  Opal Folding Roof
Posted by: Jamie - 16-12-2018, 10:57 AM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (6)

Good morning.

Perhaps a daft question, but how does the folding roof on the Pearl, or whichever model it is, seal against the rear window frames to prevent the ingress of water and driving rain? Similarly, how do the sides seal to the roof? I am still very much in the planning stages for my special, but now having a wrecked Ruby shell, I am considering fitting it with this style of roof.

Thank you.
