  XG3925 NIPPY
Posted by: Rpm - 09-03-2019, 09:47 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (28)

Hello all, Many of you may well know this registration belonging to Louis Henry , who made a very large contribution to this site. Sadly Henry passed away last year and his beloved Nippy been sitting in his garage ever since.
Just wanted to let you know that I purchased Louis car and collected it today in a LWB Transit van. I started it when I unloaded it and it started within a few turns and settled to a sweet tickover and I'm looking forward to driving it. not owned a Seven before and ask how sharp should the clutch be. can you let them out like modern cars until bite, XG3925 is quite snatchy or is that normal ? or lack of use since last year, or perhaps something i have to master.
Sadly I never got to meet Louis, but some of his amusing posts live on within this site, he had many interests and was a talented musician.

Thank You all. RPM

Front shock absorber friction disc sizes
Posted by: agmatthews - 09-03-2019, 04:18 AM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (6)

Hi All,

I'm at the point of assembling the front shock absorber on my '29 SWB chassis and have reached one of those "ummm?" moments.
The front shock absorber chassis mount has a 2 inch 'boss' on one side while the the friction discs I have all have a 1 1/2 inch hole in them.
The discs fit the shock absorber arms perfectly but not the chassis mount. The cherished suppliers only seem to supply discs with one size hole - 1 1/2 inches.

Couple of questions:

  • Is the 2 inch 'boss' on the front shock absorber chassis mount normal?
  • Do I 'open up' one of the friction discs I have to 2 inches to fit, or is there a supplier for discs with large holes?

AMUSING CARTOONS AND HUMOR THAT RELATE TO OUR LOVE OF SEVENS AND THE HOBBY
Posted by: Steve Bryant - 08-03-2019, 04:08 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (12)

I wanted to create a thread where we can post amusing things about our cars, the hobby and things we have done that others might get some entertainment from.

If you have amusing things to relate post them here. We can all use a smile and a laugh.

  Ruby teething troubles..
Posted by: Denis Sweeney - 08-03-2019, 11:11 AM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (4)

Hi all, another of the many little teething problems with Ruby, the central unit on my steering column which contains the horn and indicator switches and the cable down through the centre of the steering box rotates at annoyingly regular intervals, despite various attempts to solve the issue.
This has caused damage to the new coating on the steering wheel but also curtails trips out to test my brakes.
I have attached a couple of pictures on a word document.
All words of wisdom and admonishment gratefully received.
Best regards
Denis S

This link to ebay photo for sale. My dad used to take me to the racing, we used to go on his bike with a seat for me on the crossbar. We used to get a "hedge ticket", remember those?

I've just been e mailed by a friend who I've not seen for a while, he's now got his Seven on the road and reports it jumps out of second and third under load. What is the collective thoughts on the cause(s) by our esteemed readers.
