Cylinder head water manifold (early) |

Since putting in antifreeze the inevitable has happened. A leak appears from the top hose where the manifold meets the head, It has a tired looking rubber gasket. I see that new manifolds, stainless studs et al are available. My manifold looks ok, is it worth changing the stud? I have nor disturbed anything yet. I imagine the stud screws into a cross piece in the head (or should do!) The parts list shows a set screw, I have a stud with washers & a nut,. Any advice/pitfalls? I know the side manifold is a bit of a minefield, but that (fingers crossed) is holding out.

My 1936 4 speed gearbox has a small triangular (Shaft bearing?) cover behind the clutch operating shaft.
I tried to remove it to change the gasket, but its stuck. Is it safe to remove it without stripping the box, and if so, how?

I have been trying to find a thread on here about car covers - must be one somewhere - but no luck yet. Anybody have a recommendation for dust covers designed to fit either 1930/31 Chummy/Tourer or Ulster-type specials. Or is it carry on with the old sheets and blankets?

Pot & Trunnion Propshaft Repair? |

Not long ago I acquired a couple of 4-speed crash gearboxes, one of which had a fabric-joint propshaft still attached. The trunnion end is badly corroded, but being from a lwb car the shaft could easily be shortened for use in a swb. The block on the end which houses the pin would have to be rebuilt though. I can imagine several ways one might go about this but have doubts about strength / durability. Does anyone have practical experience of 're-making' the lump on the tail end of the propshaft?

I'm still trying to piece together the history of our Ruby. It passed through the hands of Jubilee Garage in Harlesden, North London in 1953. Does anyone have any knowledge of the garage? In particular I want to know if this is the same establishment as Harry Davies' second hand car dealership in Harlesden around the same time.
Other brief owners of the car in 1953 were Leyshon Laugher (Neasden) and John Kibblewhite (Welwyn Garden City). Both distinctive names so someone might remember them. Any information appreciated. Google has yielded nothing.
Peter.

Dunlop spare of 4.00x17 size - was larger than my others (is approaching 26.5" diameter) and I have been donated another to match my own.
well used, a few cracks but might be of use to someone free if you have weird Dunlops that need matching... and can pick up or sort getting it somehow.

T.Wells Centre of the 750MC is hosting the Cold Turkey Trial at Riverhill, near Sevenoaks in Kent on 29th December. Ideal for working off the effects of the festivities and also ideal for anyone who wants to have a first go at production car trialling. You do not have to be a 750 member to take part.
