Can anyone tell me what a LRM cylinder head is? Does it offer a performance advantage?
I am currently building a large valve engine. What is the best cylinder head to optimise performance?

Hi is it just me that is now getting an email advising of all the new threads from the forum. I have checked my subscriptions and not subscribed, even clicking on the link in the email notifications to unsubscribe tells me I have no subscriptions. This only started a couple of weeks ago and would like to stop them if possible...

unfastening set screws marine gearbox top |

Trying to dismantle a marine gearbox casing. Under the top, there are four setscrews fastening the apparatus for holding the end of the gearstick selector. They go into a particularly thin piece of the gearbox casting.
Two will not shift.
Tried kitchen flambe gas torch, tried WD40, tried a sharp but not too hard tap, but now the screw tops are starting to wear at edges of the slot.
Don't want to disturb/damage the casing - what next before I have to drill them out?

Bakelite wiring block |

Hi All,
Chris Gould's book on Ulsters notes that the bakelite wiring blocks are available new. These are the saddles with rubber gaskets that hold the wires to the bulkhead. I have checked the usual suppliers(Vintage Car Parts, Green Spark Plug, Holdens) and have had no luck. Do any sources come to mind?

i fitted a new distributor as other worn and loss of power on hills and irregular firing.
Bingo, best the a7 tourer has been. Superb for 200 miles in Brittanny when sudden failure due to stripping of teeth of gear .
Seems identical to the troubles I have just been warned about, and surely must b the same faulty gear on replacement part as on new dynamotors.
Thus simply buying a new distributor to replace dynamotors is no good, .
Who makes the gear and how do I find a different one?

Original rubber mats |

I have a complete set of orginal rubber mats, removed from my 1932 Tourer way back in 1968, and which I would like to use again for the sake of originality. My problem is that the rubber is now very hard and brittle. Is there any way that the rubber can be made pliable again? In their present state they're at risk of just breaking up whilst being reinstalled.
