New crankcase |

This may seem a foolish question. With the problems I've had with my crankcase, and another one from someone I know, and broken lip seals, etc. why hasn't anyone invested in new crankcases? I understand that heads, sumps and even blocks have been produced, but why not crankcases? Given their age, and that my sand cast one showed definte signs of metal fatigue, one would think it possible and even with enough orders, somewhat economical.

Does anyone have a rear luggage rack suitable for a 1933 A7 RP Box Saloon lurking in the back of the garage that they would like to sell? I'm looking for one. Don't mind if it needs a bit of work.

Recently I listed some number plates of cars that would have been first registered in the late 1928 brief period when Seven headlamps were fitted up front, not on scuttle. No response from owners. Would be grateful if any Friend has such a car (or knows of someone else with one) & could email me on ausevenoz@gmail.com I have a couple of questions re the lamps, brackets, pillars, that would not take up much time/effort to answer for me and I would be most grateful - possibly even rewarding. Cheers, Bill in Oz

Clutch problems |

I recently fitted new Borg and Beck linings and find the clutch impossible to disengage cleanly, even with pedal travel in abundance.
To save a lot of sweat and blasphemy can I get away with fitting 1/2 washer spacers between flywheel and cover plate? I’m actually halfway to removing gearbox, from the inside, but as the spline is still engaged it would be simple to push the box back on — if the afore mentioned wheeze is practical.
Some advice please and thanks.
Charles

I'm not sure if there is an answer to this but I often notice that when entering the forum index area, there is always a huge number of guests, often far outweighing the named members. (this morning, 32 guests plus perhaps 12 named sign-ups). I realise some of them may be bots or whatever, but...
I did have a conversation with someone who views the forum but who, as a result of not signing up, doesn't contribute for whatever complication of signing up there is. I found that quite poignant. And I wonder if there is a way of better easing/assisting the sign up process for people who are, for whatever reason, just watching here?
There are less recognisable names posting here than on the old forum, but that could be for all sorts of reasons including people changing their old user names for something anonymous! But have others got any feedback from people who perhaps used to post and now don't, or for people who experience difficulty getting through signing up?

Gearbox Oil Leaks |

I have a 4 speed crash box that leaks at both ends, has anyone fitted lip seals and was it successful.
The Cornwall A7 site shows the output, but the crash box has a step in the casting a small seal would be needed.A thrower could be fitted between the speedo gear and output flange with a little machining to the inside does anyone have any thoughts.
On the input end it is fairly straight forward but i would use a larger diameter than the CA7c advises to suit the casting. On this end a V ring thrower could be used inside and a sealed LJ35 bearing with the internal seal removed again any thoughts or ideas appreciated.

Good day
I have my chummy back from menders and now to getting on with mending! The steering still seems light and id say twitchy.... its a 27 chummy...
I had a special a long time ago and I don't remember it like this.....
Also it NEVER goes on the handle...... I'm guessing the pin the butterly is on is worn and its sucking in air weakening the mix when trying to start...
Finally steering arms..... how many here have replaced as a matter of course.....

sports slipper Pistons + cheaper spares |

Hi all,
Carrying on from a thread I opened early in the year about quarry engineerings sports slipper Pistons.
I was wondering if it was worth stocking another batch.
Well we got brave, paid many ££££ and today I we got a long sort after pallet of boxes.

The other part of the discutiion, that was brought up was prices.
If the price had to go up? also if sales are no longer what they were, if prices should go up to cover how long stock is held.
Well as I'm now buying straight from the suppliers, I've cut out the middle man. And made a saving that can be passed on. Instead of the increasing to £225.00 a set. wich most felt would be acceptable.
With the savings made I can keep the price at the old price of £180.00 NO vat to be added.
On top of that anyone who want to bulk buy, engine builders, clubs, etc I can do a considerable discount for 5 sets or more at a time.
Now it's up to you buyers, the only way we keep prices low is by selling.
Tony.

the other part to this thread, is are you happy with the increases from your suppliers over the last few years?
if you are interested in making spare parts prices cheaper, join in with this thread.
Prices can be lowered, but only buy you?
Tony
