  Valve Chest Cover
Posted by: Peter Naulls - 01-08-2018, 09:13 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (10)

I have a three bearing engine with a pressed steel valve chest cover and I'm about to fit one of the Seven Workshop's silicon o-rings in place of the cork strip. Can anyone tell me if I should fit this dry or with sealant? Any experiences, good or bad?

Many thanks,  Peter.

Hi Folks

Anyone know where I can get a BLIC magneto overhauled in the Hampshire area? unfortunately those I knew a few years ago have either passed away or ceased trading.
Failing that and I have to post it any recommendations please.

John

Both myself and the Ulster Rep were much better prepared for this year's event in our sleepy French village, surrounded by dozens of vineyards. The weather was hot and sunny, the hydraulic brakes ran in and working well, the course driven many times, white overalls washed and with a lazy ironed finish, stylish French goggles in hand, we were ready enough for a little fun.

Telling the bride not to worry

There were 13 A7s in the programme among the other 'cyclecars' and to worry anyone with a superstitious nature, my race number was also 13!

'Le petit bleu' went rather well for his first event off this kind and a friend took a few photos:

Note the slight blue haze behind me, hmm!

We did suffer a failed throttle pedal, made to replace the modified original, which went AWOL a few months ago. This caused the throttle to stick wide open, so we retired to the paddock for repairs, but the blue haze appearing behind me was a cause for concern, so the engine is now out again and the head will come off soon and all will be well again, hopefully without drama. So, No.13, unlucky for some? Hmm, maybe!

Looking forward to some more running-in along our quiet winding roads.

Hope to see more A7s next July for the 2019 event.

Best,

Bill

Another holiday picture for you; with the recent thread on attaching a luggage rack to a Seven, and the concern shown by several owners, perhaps they would like to comment on the suitability of fitting a towbar!

  Bodywork
Posted by: Steve kay - 31-07-2018, 05:29 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - No Replies

A chap came to admire my moderately presentable Ruby, and asked ifI had restored it. I was able to tell him that it came in a very good condition from Ian Bennett, before the adrenalin of the Bert Hadley Championship took him to much faster machines. It turned out that he was asking as he has a Seven in need of some atention to bodywork, and wondered if I could recommend someone in South Wales or up in the Marches. I haven't needed bodywork, but can anyone  suggest a good workshop who can be relied on?

  Supercharger coupling
Posted by: Scarlet O'Hara - 31-07-2018, 04:48 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (6)

Hi all, back from a great weekend at Guildtown and need some help / advice on what to do with the supercharger drive on the next project. Should it have a rubber insert and can you still get them from anywhere? Should the inserts be made of leather strips? Has anybody tried casting their own out of Devcon rubber? What other alternative couplings have people used? Did Austin use a similar coupling on any other pre-war models?
