Owning a 7? |

Hi All,
I'm new to this forum and just want to canvas opinion on what owning a 7 in reality is like.
I was looking for an affordable series one Landy but I've heard of an Ulster style 7 that might be coming up for sale as the owners widow can't manage the controls so it's no use to her.
I haven't seen it yet but gather that it hasn't been used now for some time and is garaged.........
I could be interested if it's in decent condition and would mainly look at using it locally (Merseyside) and runs out into Wales, Cheshire etc as well as local car club meets.
Question's are, - has anyone on here used one for driving any distance
- if looked after how reliable are they
- Is there a resale market for one if I bought it and didn't get on with it myself
- How much actual fun are they
Searching the net, I see spares are available, plenty of advice and knowledge on this site so no issues there.
Like I say, just canvassing owners opinions and has ownership met their expectations. I appreciate any answers will be relative but will give me a clue at least as to whether it's worth a look.

Can anyone put me in touch with David Gregson, or know if he is still about or anything about him or the cars he built? I have one of them in my barn (California) which I would Like to know more about. It is an open two seater dark blue in color. There is another monoposto, I believe in Germany, that shares many similarities. The grille shells for instance are almost identical.

4 speed gearbox ratios |

Hi All
I rarely use 1st while driving my Ulster rep. It pulls away in 2nd with no problems. And fourth always seems a bit short (I mean it feels like there ought to be a 5th). Is it possible to have the gearbox modified, to alter the ratios to make 1st usable and 4th higher?
Cheers
Rich

Judy has a new iPad. It’s my job as technical director to transfer all the stuff on the old one to the new. It’s a doddle except all her Pinterest saved images are missing. I know it’s nothing to do with Austins, but does anyone know where the file resides so I can go looking?

Camshaft bush |

I need to modify the camshaft bush securing bolt.
I see the recommended method of drilling and tapping but is it possible or advisable
to do this without removing the shaft ?
