  Paxton specials
Posted by: Charles Levien - 30-10-2018, 08:15 AM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (6)

There has been a bit of interest shown in Paxton specials recently on this forum so I thought you might like to see another — with a chap wearing a broad smile and holding a shield awarded after sprinting the car around a section of Snetterton this year.
It’s a road car with a strong engine — I don’t have a trailer, just prefer to drive to events ( eg Kop hill) and take a chance.

  Austin Acheivements, again
Posted by: Steve kay - 29-10-2018, 09:48 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - No Replies

Saturday's Batho Trophy Scatter Rally was part of the Inter-Register calendar, organised by Worcester Riley Owners. Austin Sevens bravely ignored the disparity between a weather forecast predicting a sunny autumn day and the reality of snowy slush and strong winds. Messrs Crouch and Fox deserved a medal for enduring a whole rally in the almost wholly unprotected Stumpi trials special. The organisers sat at the computer adding up figures, and actually acclaimed Nettie and Adrian Bradshaw in the richly patinated Chummy as 2nd in the Novice  Class, and Colin Barratt telling Steve Kay where to go in the Ruby managed 2nd in the Experts class. We managed a quick photo in the gathering dusk.

Previewing the post shows the hastily improvised radiator muff using an Australian wine cardboard box all too evident.

  Ruby mk2 battery box front.
Posted by: Joe eck - 29-10-2018, 08:11 PM - Forum: Wants - Replies (1)

Does anybody have a front panel for a mk2 Ruby battery box ?
Mine is damaged on the passenger side ( looks like something has been dropped on it ) but good elsewhere so a sound or repairable half panel would do the job.
I don't mind travelling a reasonable distance to remove a panel should anybody have a shell kicking around.
Thanks
Joe.

  Hardy Spicer propshaft

Can anybody tell me the collapsed length of the Hardy Spicer prop-shaft before I buy one, it's for a LWB RN with a 4 speed gearbox attached to a 3 speed engine in it's original position.

  NEC Lancaster Classic Car Show
Posted by: Lowespeed - 29-10-2018, 02:35 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (12)

Just noticed that the car park charge for the show is £12 booked in advance; but £16 on the day! Thought you might like to know if thinking of attending. May be cheaper to go on the train and park at a local station for free. Makes for a very expensive day out.

  4 x 15"wheels
Posted by: Simon Scott - 29-10-2018, 12:20 PM - Forum: Sales - No Replies

Advertising on behalf of a friend.

"I have four really good 15 inch A7 wheels (with radial tyres). These are wider than normal A7 but not by all that much - rears are wider than the front and the rims are West London style or at least I think they are. Tyres are 15 x 125 and 15 x 135. £350

Note the rear and front wheels are spoked differently. They have been powder coated or painted silver but could do with touching up here and there. Tyres have excellent tread and are all matching Firestone 560's."

  Spit windscreen seals
Posted by: David.H - 29-10-2018, 10:55 AM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (7)

Neither of my cars with split/two piece screens (1927 AD & 1932 AG) came wit a seal between top& bottom panes. These are available (thanks to cherished etc suppliers!) but do they fit to the upper (moveable) or lower (fixed) screen?
My guess is to the fixed, but what do I know! Rinkens photos are ambivalent!

Dish washer in rear hub assembly - is it needed anyway?
Posted by: Damian GT - 28-10-2018, 11:41 AM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (12)

I'm hoping somebody can help me over the issue of the washer which is supposed to go between rear hub inner and the bearing.

I'm putting together an axle from bits and don't have any washers to look at. The question I guess is whether they are needed or not?   I seem to remember that they are needed to ensure correct fit of bearing in hub, but can't find confirmation of this. What I can't establish is whether the washer fits between hub and bearing or is it between bearing centre and axle casing? Obviously it can only fit tightly between one of the two!

I am using sealed bearings so leakage of oil/grease not an issue here.

See Cornwall site for line drawing - unfortunately too low res to answer the question.

Sorry for wordy post.  Seeking guidance thanks..

Damian.
