Hopefully I've got it right to update my profile and add in the 7's
Hmmm seems I must go back into profile editing mode
Got it - had to click on 'update profile'
Timothy you might want to look into allowing 2 lines for cars, I edited ours so my info block didn't end up against my name.... I realize we're in the minority with more than 5 cars.

Lucas MT wiper motor on a Mk I Ruby |

Finally got around to getting the alignment sorted out on the wiper motor, it has only been used once in earnest, as mostly I have planned using the car around dry weather and the odd time it has rained when I have been out, Rainex has been been ok to not need wiping, or I have just done a single manual wipe.
Anyway, the alignment is now correct, the wiper blade sweeps evenly across the screen (previously it was part wiping the screen before climbing up onto the bodywork), but now, this has thrown out the "park" for the blade.
Now, when the blade is parked the spindle hook end cannot engage in its rest position onto the operating knob, so the blade is not properly secured in its rest position. I could leave the spindle engaged with the motor drive, but this would mean that the wiper blade was left on the screen and this has issues for opening the screen.
I experimented with off-setting the shaft, but in wiping mode the hook end of the spindle makes contact with the operating knob, and still, the "park" position is off.
The only way "park" works is for the wiper arm/blade to be out-of-kilter with the spindle, so it will not wipe the screen correctly, and climbs onto the bodywork! Which was where I started at!
It seems there is a compatibility issue and I suspect that the original wiper arm must have had some sort of off-set to enable it to meet screen sweeping & parking conditions, my arm is completely straight and a non-original item.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Has anyone got an original wiper arm that they can post a photo so as to compare the differences.
I would like to get this right!

Wiper blade engaged - start position for wiping

As seen on the screen

Wiper blade in park position

Wiper blade in park position, but not engaged onto operating knob

Wiper blade in park position when engaged onto operating knob!
So, if anyone could post a photo of an original wiper arm, or better still, know where I can get the correct type, it would be much appreciated, thank you in anticipation!

REAR HUB NUT SIZE |

Hi
Could anyone tell me the size of the rear hub wheel bearing retaining nut (1927) and is it tightened to any particular tightness?
I managed to remove with a stilsons but realise this is not a long term solution, it was particularly tight and I was under the impression it should only be nipped up?
I'm in the process of replacing the rear drums (cast Iron from Tony Betts) brake shoes to be relined by Saftek is there any thing else I should be looking to replace on the hub now I've come this far.
Many thanks.
Paul

Early in January, Mike Costigan posted a picture of Dixis. This generated some research, and I am particularly grateful to Mark Garfitt nwho communicated with BMW specialists for further information. Hagen Nyncke, BMW Archivist, and historian Rainer Simons have given a fuller caption to Mike'smoriginal picture, and provided two more.
[attachment=5338]
The first picture originally posted by Mike is part of a PR-photo album, prepared during the second half of 1929 in several (known) editions for BMW top brass or other important people.
The album consists of about 65 photographs of nearly everything interesting to show of the Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach (i.e. DIXI - Werke) at that time. That includes buildings, laboratories, workshops, assembling lines (for example for the DA 2 chassis) and several views of the bodyshop (two-seaters only!).
What is interesting with this photograph is the combination of naked chassis on the DIXI-lorry in the background and completed DA 2 saloons in the foreground.! The lorry with loaded chassis is obviously bound for Eisenach central station, from where the chassis would be send by rail to Berlin Johannisthal. There, in a rented production shop, the chassis received their steel bodies from AMBI BUDD. This system was retained for about one year, before final assembly returned to Eisenach and AMBI BUDD had to send their finished (and painted!) bodies by rail to Eisenach!
The completed saloons in the foreground therefore had nothing to do at that time with the factory in Eisenach, even the BMW dealers had to collect their customers cars in Berlin! So the photo was probably some sort of a promotion shot, for reason not obvious.
help, how do I reduce the size of the other two pictures so that the file is acceptable for the forum?

Has anybody else noticed that Reckless Rat ( Some who know him better than me may know him as Reckers) has gone all French on us and removed the lovey picture of his car and replaced it with the French Tricular. I have nothing against the French or their flag but it does not beat an Austin Seven.
Sorry Reckless can you change back to the seven.

I have tried to find out how spring ring in rear axel should be put back .Many have given wise of how to get the ring out, by sharp screw driver. Have worked for me ,but after fitting lip seal in top hat and flat dish .The spring ring is too strong to compress with plier and get back in. Any good way of doing this?
