A nice picture of a Mk2 Ruby submitted by Jeff Taylor. I have been able to identify the driver as J M Ching, competing in the 1937 MCC Lands End Trial. Now over to you to identify the location!

  Brake Shoe Lining Materials
Posted by: Matt_Harnden - 30-10-2018, 09:33 AM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (21)

Hi,

I want to maximise the braking on my 7 special for normal road use. One of the items I want to improve and replace are the brake shoe linings.

What experiences have people had with different lining materials?

I’m torn between changing the linings myself (which I have done before) or having them replaced by a company such as Saftek.

Other posts have suggested that the Saftek ‘Green Gripper’ is the way to go - has anyone any experience of this material? Is it worth the small additional cost?

Thanks.

Matt

  Paxton specials
Posted by: Charles Levien - 30-10-2018, 08:15 AM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (6)

There has been a bit of interest shown in Paxton specials recently on this forum so I thought you might like to see another — with a chap wearing a broad smile and holding a shield awarded after sprinting the car around a section of Snetterton this year.
It’s a road car with a strong engine — I don’t have a trailer, just prefer to drive to events ( eg Kop hill) and take a chance.

  Austin Acheivements, again
Posted by: Steve kay - 29-10-2018, 09:48 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - No Replies

Saturday's Batho Trophy Scatter Rally was part of the Inter-Register calendar, organised by Worcester Riley Owners. Austin Sevens bravely ignored the disparity between a weather forecast predicting a sunny autumn day and the reality of snowy slush and strong winds. Messrs Crouch and Fox deserved a medal for enduring a whole rally in the almost wholly unprotected Stumpi trials special. The organisers sat at the computer adding up figures, and actually acclaimed Nettie and Adrian Bradshaw in the richly patinated Chummy as 2nd in the Novice  Class, and Colin Barratt telling Steve Kay where to go in the Ruby managed 2nd in the Experts class. We managed a quick photo in the gathering dusk.

Previewing the post shows the hastily improvised radiator muff using an Australian wine cardboard box all too evident.

  Ruby mk2 battery box front.
Posted by: Joe eck - 29-10-2018, 08:11 PM - Forum: Wants - Replies (1)

Does anybody have a front panel for a mk2 Ruby battery box ?
Mine is damaged on the passenger side ( looks like something has been dropped on it ) but good elsewhere so a sound or repairable half panel would do the job.
I don't mind travelling a reasonable distance to remove a panel should anybody have a shell kicking around.
Thanks
Joe.
