I'm just stripping down my latest project and not having had an Austin 7 before was trying to figure out where reverse is on a four speed non synchro box...i was unable to select it and didn't want to force the gear lever.

I have a Big seven 1937 four door saloon. Reg; EXY 437. I have owned this car since 2011 but have all the history of it since 1976. Can not find out anything before that date. Does anyone know of this car? It started it's life (first registered) at PLATERS of 376-378 High Rd Streatham, LONDON. Now way gone! Have checked DVLA and Streatham news but all a blank!! Someone must know of this car? Must say that is is not quite ready for the road.
The gear stick moves a heck of a lot across side to side , how can this be sorted? I passed my test in a 1931 box saloon, ( now 82 ) you would think by now i would have learnt something by now!!
My question to all you very knowledgeable people, can you throw any light on my This old timer(car and me)
Thanks a lot
New very interested member.

More Dynamo points
About to reverse the field windings on my C35.
Some of you will be sick of this problem SORRY
HOWEVER
are the orientation of the metal field coil centres important ?
When I installed the field coils I could not see any marks on the two.
This post follows on to my “Dynamo no go” post
Regards
Tim

I need to look at fabricating the exhaust for my car and my current plan (which could change) is a sports style pipe running along the nearside of the body. The body style I have gives me plenty of space to mount it there. Actually I have so much space it needs something there to break it up! I just need to make sure the wheel doesn't hit at full lock I think.
I know of this page that describes the origin Brooklands style silencer and fishtail: http://www.austin7club.org/How%20To%2011.htm
My thinking so far is 1 inch tube from the block into a 1 1/4 inch collector and from there into the muffler and a similar size tail pipe. The actual tube I have is sold as 25.4mm OD and the bigger pipe would be 31.8mm OD both with 1.2mm wall thickness so that seems about right. I would slit and taper the collector part.
The pipe seems so small and I know that silencer was only for Brooklands but I guess that is right for a small engine. I can work out the dimensions from the link above but was wondering if someone who has one can post general dimensions. My car isn't a replica of anything so I can make whatever I like that is in period and functional, it's doesn't have to be an exact copy of an original.
The pic on the radius arm thread reminded me to ask!

These are the bolts with a chamfered and rounded head and with a pin just below the head that engages in a slot in the big end cap.
Need a set of eight for my rebuild please.
