Oil price
#1
I would be interested to hear where Friends buy their oils from. Yesterday I was quoted £39 for 5 litres of Comma Classic 30. £8/litre!!!

I'd like to try this. Has anyone given it a go?

I am also looking at the cost of 25 litres of 20/50 and it seems the best deal is with Oilstore. It's £15 delivery, making it £5.66/litre. Does anyone know of a better deal?

tbh Halfords is about the same as your 'oilstore' price if you have a trade card.

I buy sae40 Golden Film on eBay; the present price for 5 litres is £36 including delivery.

I've used Morris Oils lubricants for nearly sixty years and have been very satisfied with their products.

Edit: a quick check has the cheapest at around £34 for 5 litres.

Have a look at https://www.ryeoil.co.uk/products-servic...ctor-oils/

They had a stall at Beaulieu autojumble a few years ago and prices were very good, i bought several gallons of the stuff and have since bought it online

20 litres of SAE30 = £54
20 litres of 20 / 50 = £62.64

You can also buy from them on ebay with free postage!!

Thanks All. Peter, thanks for leading me to RS. They are not that far away from me. The online shop is excellent and the prices look competitive.

MANNOL 20L CLASSIC SEMI-SYNTHETIC ENGINE OIL 10W-40 for £42.75 with free postage. But, would this suit an A7 that's been run on a traditional 'straight' oil?

The demise of Wilko has certainly put up non synthetic 20/50 prices quite a bit.

When I bought my Seven I was advised to buy the cheapest 20/30 multi grade I could get and change it frequently. The oil never stops in my car for more than 6 months. My theory and the previous owner is clean cheap oil is better than dirty expensive oil. I do like Halfords Classic however.

Unless you know that your engine has had all the oilways thoroughly cleaned within living memory, I would advise against using a modern general-purpose oil which will have a high detergent content.
