Oil price - Nick Salmon - 28-09-2023 I would be interested to hear where Friends buy their oils from. Yesterday I was quoted £39 for 5 litres of Comma Classic 30. £8/litre!!! I'd like to try this. Has anyone given it a go? ![]() I am also looking at the cost of 25 litres of 20/50 and it seems the best deal is with Oilstore. It's £15 delivery, making it £5.66/litre. Does anyone know of a better deal? ![]() RE: Oil price - Chris KC - 28-09-2023 https://motorspirit.co.uk/product/heritage-20w-50/ or if the additives put you off https://motorspirit.co.uk/product/morris-golden-film-20w-50/ tbh Halfords is about the same as your 'oilstore' price if you have a trade card. RE: Oil price - Mike Costigan - 28-09-2023 I buy sae40 Golden Film on eBay; the present price for 5 litres is £36 including delivery. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334418218958?epid=1856332254&hash=item4ddce10fce:g:VE0AAOSwZONiZoQi&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4GoTC9iwR9MHIaTTi1utvV1vNBlXsqMbw%2FMZzU5dqXfO9wBZAqb%2BjacBDpGIRxMMdzowNd9qZYhWhr2vaDj9njTNw2UYUvpTJglksUUCdGSjuYRLExvZDzeTF9KE4UaUY%2Frg%2BGf2kT%2BHRQngQywqOaqvjlORTNNc%2FfgSe%2BxJhPiev8Z9vus7Ufvg%2Fd%2BcXrwg8ybvsreGhgOHyXz3zWgYZSX6yv0QmQ0eCIOrIIAKA%2BMzfEbXSAxz2QMk6qKS7p8n9XhQ0rSJ796uG3OZNJvVPKNDg9DOswDVwLvkEVjuDVZ%2B%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR-bsgcTbYg I've used Morris Oils lubricants for nearly sixty years and have been very satisfied with their products. Edit: a quick check has the cheapest at around £34 for 5 litres. RE: Oil price - JohnD - 28-09-2023 Have a look at https://www.ryeoil.co.uk/products-services/vintage-classic-tractor-oils/ They had a stall at Beaulieu autojumble a few years ago and prices were very good, i bought several gallons of the stuff and have since bought it online 20 litres of SAE30 = £54 20 litres of 20 / 50 = £62.64 You can also buy from them on ebay with free postage!! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272045927675?var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338749392&toolid=20006&customid=GB_131090_272045927675.146649679390~1869472373696-g_CjwKCAjwyNSoBhA9EiwA5aYlb1WONdLitfqauGZ0GsNfFTYeu_34Q6m1ljqSsS7uj-Dkr0AGB7zdVRoCYxQQAvD_BwE RE: Oil price - PeterN - 28-09-2023 Try RS Cars in Bedfordshire. Richard Shrive . Keeps a huge stock of lubricants 01525 717346 RE: Oil price - Nick Salmon - 28-09-2023 Thanks All. Peter, thanks for leading me to RS. They are not that far away from me. The online shop is excellent and the prices look competitive. https://eshop.richard-shrive-cars.com RE: Oil price - Tony Griffiths - 28-09-2023 MANNOL 20L CLASSIC SEMI-SYNTHETIC ENGINE OIL 10W-40 for £42.75 with free postage. But, would this suit an A7 that's been run on a traditional 'straight' oil? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314841268341?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20200818143230%26meid%3D05cadb6dcc6f45329f1d887a9220a3d1%26pid%3D101224%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D303164428312%26itm%3D314841268341%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D4429486%26algv%3DDefaultOrganicWebV9BertRefreshRanker%26brand%3DMannol&_trksid=p4429486.c101224.m-1 RE: Oil price - Steve kay - 28-09-2023 The demise of Wilko has certainly put up non synthetic 20/50 prices quite a bit. RE: Oil price - John Mason - 28-09-2023 When I bought my Seven I was advised to buy the cheapest 20/30 multi grade I could get and change it frequently. The oil never stops in my car for more than 6 months. My theory and the previous owner is clean cheap oil is better than dirty expensive oil. I do like Halfords Classic however. John Mason RE: Oil price - Mike Costigan - 28-09-2023 Unless you know that your engine has had all the oilways thoroughly cleaned within living memory, I would advise against using a modern general-purpose oil which will have a high detergent content. |
