6v versus 12v Condenser
#1
Question
Quick question.

I'm running a Bosch 009 distributor, are 6v and 12v condensers the same?

The spares I've bought don't have any identification, so if it is a 12v is it OK to use?

I would think that a 6v would not working on a 12v system, but what about a 12v on a 6v system.

I have a multimeter so could I test it and if so what would I set the meter too.

Hi

Both the same.
The condenser sees a peak voltage of 300 to 400 volts on an A7 and condensers sold for this purpose will reliably withstand that.
Multimeter test won't reveal much.

Hi Dave T, If it's any help I always test mine with a 500volt megger. If you know an electrician they may be of help.
