Zenith 26JS - 3 Carburettor
#1
Hi,
I have a Zenith 26JS - 3 Carburettor which appears to be in very good condition. It is from an Austin A30 803cc engine.
I intend to use it on my special with a "Nippy" inlet manifold. Does anyone have experience with this set up. I am wondering what jet changes, if any may be required.
The general specifications are,
Choke, 18mm  --Main Jet, 95  --Main Air Jet, 160 --Slow Running Jet, 40 --Slow Running Air Bleec, 40

I don't have experience of that particular carb but I have successfully run Zenith 30V carbs of various types such as used Big 7's and 8's amongst others. You probably will need different jetting, what you have may be a bit rich.

I have a Zenith downdraught with 26mm choke on my RN saloon. I would try it as it is and get new jets if running rich. Can't remember jet sizes as it's 17 years since I fitted it. Mine has a home made tubular inlet and exhaust manifold. Car pulls and revs well, better than the side mounted 26 VA.

Just looked at carb on my RN. It is 26 VME which has nominal bore of 26mm and looks to be 18mm choke.

Many thanks for the replies and advice. I have contacted Burlen for jets.
