No doubt these nuts and screws were fitted at the factory BEFORE they fitted the fuel tank?

Yes, because the rear mounting for the petrol tank is onto the dashboard.

Parazine, do you have a source for the chrome raised counter sunk 1/4 W screws? I can only find SS.

I suspect they are out there if you look long & hard enough, none of the following is exactly right, just what I could find with a 10 minute search.

If resorting to buying screws then plating them I believe stainless can be chromed. (Though if polished I wonder how many could tell the difference...)

I think they came from a stall at Beaulieu Autojumble about 10 years ago, so I guess the answer is no.
