Rod brakes - was the handbrake different?

The shape is quite different too.

I can take a pattern of mine if that helps, I had not noticed the difference in shape to be honest, but I haven't had any problems so had no need to study it in detail

That would be very interesting as I don’t think I have one here, thank you.

Original drawing XL418 on page 482 of the Source Book shows this component to scale, as part of the layout of this latest braking system.

It has proven really difficult to take an accurate pattern from my car as everything is currently assembled so access is restricted. I made a template from a normal Ruby bracket and offered it up, if this were fitted in place of the correct item on my late rod braked chassis it would move the top hole where the prawl attaches forward by about 1/2". If you need further information and a accurate template I will look at dismantling my hand brake assembly to take one for you.

Thanks for the link, Ruairidh - it is good to properly see the detail - even with a magnifying glass, I was guessing before.

Thank you for trying Ian.

My friend, Charlie, has found one in his cellar this morning - I attach of photo of his alongside an earlier one I have here.

He is away to take this measurement on the late one:

Get him to lay one on top of the other and the hole layout difference will be very apparent
