Wonderful photos.

Just for fun - I think this may well be the scene today at Comber where Waite's car is taking the corner. As found on Google maps streetview

In the Grasshopper book we list Leslie Bissett as the third member of Team 'B' in the 4th March 1939 SSCC Winter Half-Day trial alongside J. H. Blyth and B. L. Carlaw of the Tartan Grasshopper team, probably in place of G. Valentine. They are all listed as driving supercharged Austin Sevens and won the Team Prize. Although not described as 'Grasshoppers' listings commonly referred to the Grasshoppers as Austin Seven (s). The report of the trial appeared in The Light Car.

We did point out that Leslie Bissett usually competed with an MG and 'presumed' he may have been using AOV 343.

Does anyone remember the speedy in bits that went through HVA auction last year.

The tail had been cut in its past and had a plastic tail put on it.

Did anyone keep any pics.

There weren't that many made, it's likely to be the same car.

Someone may have pics of it with the plastic tail back on.

Tony.

It would be nice to think that Mr Blissett's Speedy was supercharged. I have often though a s/c Speedy would be a good idea - a Grasshopper by any other name.
Ruairidh, can you recall where your photo came from?

Regards,
Stuart

PS Steve - DW Trial it is.

Tony.

If it's the one at HVA in July 2016 it looks to have been registered CMF 842, Tony.

I have had the photo for a long time, where from I cannot recall - it has a tag of "supercharged Austin", which suggests that this was either written on the back or it came with that information in a email etc.
