Thanks for that, I wanted to check my calculation against the reality of a factory drawing. It's really difficult finding the exact centre point of the stud...or am I disappearing up my own fundament?

It's usually easier to measure the spacing from the side of the stud than trying to guess the centre. That is left side to left side or right side to right side which will be the same as centre to centre.
I make the stud spacing 4" measuring the holes on a hub outer
