Chummy length?

But he wanted to know if they would fit sideways. So wouldn't two... standing on rear end, rear wheels touching each other.. go in next to each other? So two rows of two makes 4 in total possible, surely.

I find this intriguing!

How are they to be turned and pushed sideways into position? And, of course, if the turning is to take place in the garage rather than outside, the width required will be the diagonal length rather than the straight fore and aft length.

I was going to use the wheel trolleys that you can buy in machine mart. You put one under each wheel and push the car into position.

you can buy castors by the pack of 4 in ikea for the price of a beer (or 2 if you are not from the south east). With4 packs, 4 bits of 3/4 ply and some screws you can make 4 wheel skates for the cost of the neck end of bugger all.
