Something new.

Taking apart a magneto engine, today, I found this modification to the cam centre bearing. It’s surely not original. Now I can’t decide whether to revert to rollers or leave it as it is.

I have dismantled at least two engines where the centre rollers, ring and casting were completely missing, they still ran!

Isn't that a mod that Jim White showed in The Special Builder's Guide?

Yes it is. I hadn’t seen one before though

I think something similar is described in the 750 Companion, isn't it?

If it's doing its job properly I don't see any reason to replace it.

Hi Alan.

I've made something very similar so I'd keep it! The problem I had was that the cam roller track was worn so replacing outer and rollers wasn't going solve the problem. That and I hate crowded rollers anyway.
