The modern only goes out maybe 3 times a week, sometimes less. I like to keep it dry and keep it many years. Bought it new and it's only eight now. Kept the last one till it was about 17. Also not got much room outside at front or back. It sometimes sits in the front garden for a few days if I know I'll be out in the 7 a few times.
