The headlamps are mounted on separate pieces of ironmongery, but there are several different versions and it is easy to get the wrong ones. The top of the headlamp should be roughly on a line with the top of the radiator cowl aperture, as on this RK:

Get it wrong, and you can end up with them too high, like this:
