Appreciate it doesn't really answer your question, but the picture below was the final straw that caused me to move to a semi-girling setup which I'm very happy with:

That was based on a Morris 1000 master cylinder which was mounted on the chassis ahead of the brake pedal. As I recall the rest of the system was a variety of early and late Morris Minor/1000. A lot of the BMC brake cylinders look very similar, but are subtly different, I think I went through A30/A35, late A40, and early mini before realising it was Morris based. The advantage of Morris based is that parts are relatively cheap and accessible - I think the mini cylinders are bigger in comparison, or at least the fronts are which might explain why you have rears.
