That was a really interesting set of films, thanks for posting. I have had a fair few bits sand cast by a local foundry, it's still basically the same process. The one big difference is that the lads at the local foundry use a special sand for the cores which is rammed up in the usual way, but when the "raw" sand core is injected with Co2 (Carbon Dioxide) gas, it instantly sets like concrete and is ready to go in the mould.
The other smaller difference is that in the film, a flat cap seemed to be the main item of PPE for the workers in foundry.
