Inline fuel filter
#1
Hi all, I am considering fitting an in-line fuel filter to my Ruby. All the filters I have found are for plastic/rubber petrol pipe as are fitted to moderns. Does anybody know of a source where I can get one with connections to copper fuel pipe.

John Mason.
Would you believe it "Her who must be obeyed" refers to my Ruby as the toy.

Hi John

I picked up one at Beaulieu a couple years ago.  I think it was on one of the many motorcycle orientated stalls. I think I paid a tenner for it!

Cheers

Howard

On a Ruby you should have a fine filter in the fuel pump and another within the carb banjo fitting. This should be adequate .
I am always interested in any information about Rosengart details or current owners.

Derek, You are correct in what you say but something keeps clogging up my carb jets. I will investigate further.

I have not been able to find filters for the "Banjo" pipe to carb union for the 30VE1 nor FZB22 nor 24T2 (does it have one?? I cannot recall!) I have fitted a modern in line filter on the 1928 AD with it's 24T2 carb- it was sensitive to angle - and pre war motor cycle type filters to the other two.

I can see using in line filter in gravity fed systems , have fitted a glass bowl type ad shown above in my Chummy. I don’t know if the banjo filters are available but I make my own, can supply a few at a fiver a pop.! They were 6d each in 1937 which I think you will find equates to somewhere near a fiver today.
