Girling Backplate Bolts
#1
Please can someone confirm the correct bolt type (thread and length) to secure a Girling backplate to the rear axle Huh .

(I think I have worked it out but would like a second opinion!)

Many thanks.

I think they are 5/16 BSF by 1/2" - I also think that the one nearest the cotter pin benefits from being slightly shorter again.

Thanks Ruairdh. I had guessed the same thread but 5/8" long. Good advice about the cotter pin - this was my reason for removing the backplate bolts...and hub. Made life a lot easier (if more work).

Cheers.

5/8" could well be correct - let me know when you find out for sure.

I made a set of these recently. 5/16 BSF by 5/8" but it helps to reduce the length of the one by the cotter. In the end, it's not critical. Any thread that pokes out of the bosses in the axle ends does nothing.
