Girling Backplate Bolts - Matt_Harnden - 20-01-2019 Please can someone confirm the correct bolt type (thread and length) to secure a Girling backplate to the rear axle . (I think I have worked it out but would like a second opinion!) Many thanks. RE: Girling Backplate Bolts - Ruairidh Dunford - 20-01-2019 I think they are 5/16 BSF by 1/2" - I also think that the one nearest the cotter pin benefits from being slightly shorter again. RE: Girling Backplate Bolts - Ian Dunford - 20-01-2019 5/16ths BSF by 1/2 an inch RE: Girling Backplate Bolts - Matt_Harnden - 20-01-2019 (20-01-2019, 05:41 PM)Ruairidh Dunford Wrote: I think they are 5/16 BSF by 1/2" - I also think that the one nearest the cotter pin benefits from being slightly shorter again. Thanks Ruairdh. I had guessed the same thread but 5/8" long. Good advice about the cotter pin - this was my reason for removing the backplate bolts...and hub. Made life a lot easier (if more work). Cheers. Matt RE: Girling Backplate Bolts - Ruairidh Dunford - 20-01-2019 5/8" could well be correct - let me know when you find out for sure. RE: Girling Backplate Bolts - Steve Jones - 20-01-2019 I made a set of these recently. 5/16 BSF by 5/8" but it helps to reduce the length of the one by the cotter. In the end, it's not critical. Any thread that pokes out of the bosses in the axle ends does nothing. Steve |
