Flywheels
#1
I have a 1 1/8 flywheel which has been lightened and is in all round good condition.  Is there any good reason why this should not be machined to fit an 1 5/16 crankshaft

It can be done but leaves the flywheel boss a little thin.

Is that likely to cause problems in the long term?

Only one way to find out.

I think that’s Ruiaridh’s way of saying get a standard 1 5/16” flywheel!

I quite like having feet but each to his own.

If you have a lathe and time to kill all well and good, but I'd imagine that's a tricky machining job to get just right, and meanwhile 1 5/16" flywheels are not exactly hard to find.

I agree with Chris, and would prefer the strength of the heavier boss.
