Flywheels - Colin Ayre45 - 07-08-2024 I have a 1 1/8 flywheel which has been lightened and is in all round good condition. Is there any good reason why this should not be machined to fit an 1 5/16 crankshaft RE: Flywheels - Ruairidh Dunford - 07-08-2024 It can be done but leaves the flywheel boss a little thin. RE: Flywheels - Colin Ayre45 - 08-08-2024 Is that likely to cause problems in the long term? RE: Flywheels - Ruairidh Dunford - 08-08-2024 Only one way to find out. RE: Flywheels - Ivor Hawkins - 08-08-2024 I think that’s Ruiaridh’s way of saying get a standard 1 5/16” flywheel! RE: Flywheels - stuartu - 08-08-2024 I quite like having feet but each to his own. Regards, Stuart RE: Flywheels - Chris KC - 08-08-2024 If you have a lathe and time to kill all well and good, but I'd imagine that's a tricky machining job to get just right, and meanwhile 1 5/16" flywheels are not exactly hard to find. RE: Flywheels - Robert Leigh - 08-08-2024 I agree with Chris, and would prefer the strength of the heavier boss. |
