Sender float arm

Is there a method of removing the arm of my petrol float from the sender, preferably without using heat. I have a cork float which I fear will disintegrate in the modern fuel and would like to replace it with a float from another u/s sender unit.Thanks for any advice

I couldn't do it, I suspect it might be silver soldered.

I bought a brass float off Ebay and soldered it in place of the disintegrated original.
