My dad who ran the RN that I now have was pretty good at putting dents in the headlights. They had been bashed by the front bonnet corner so many times that the shells were fatigue-cracked all over the top surface. All fixed now.

Whilst Ive had trouble catching the headlights with the bonnett in my AD and my old AE chummy. I've never done it with the longer bonnet of the RL (which is pretty much the same as OV in that department) The issue with that is catching the moulding on the scuttle.
That also has original wings, stays, brackets and lamps.
Never done it in the RP either, though the lamps are mounted differently.
