Sump bolts and Engine Oil
#11
You also need to tap the helicoil in square.Maybe drill a block with the same size tapping hole,or need a good eye to check while drilling and tapping out.
Another tip , the helicoil tap has a bit of a lead on it to aid tapping, problem is the sump holes are not very deep and that lead means the helicoil might bottom out before it’s fully inserted. If you have an M8 bottoming tap ,if it’s pointed grind that off,put that down after the helicoil tap as it’s virtually the same thread as 1/4 whit helicoil and the thread insert will go down further and not tighten up at the bottom.
I think much of the sump leakage could come from the holes going straight through into the engine.

Thanks for all the advice. Much appreciated as usual.

I might leave the sump job to another month, as the job to do list is growing to tall.
