I don't contribute to the fuel debate, I have no evidence that E5 or E10 fuels affect my cars.
Until now, maybe.
I dug Alice out of the garage where the car normally stays. Probably it has been a year since it has run, maybe nearer two.
It is a very rough engine, it doesn't run well, normally. So I started up and drove home in the usual jerky fashion.
I usually drain the tank after a long lay up, I expect water and some odd bits.
Instead, I got this:
No water, but quite a lot of grey dust in the hollow in the drain plug.
Dissolved solder? Dissolved galvanising? Certainly isn't water.
I drain the tank of the Tourer on a regular basis, to keep the rust levels down. Never noticed any grey, but will look for it next time.
