E5/10 fuel - "Slack Alice" Simon - 10-04-2022 I don't contribute to the fuel debate, I have no evidence that E5 or E10 fuels affect my cars. Until now, maybe. I dug Alice out of the garage where the car normally stays. Probably it has been a year since it has run, maybe nearer two. It is a very rough engine, it doesn't run well, normally. So I started up and drove home in the usual jerky fashion. I usually drain the tank after a long lay up, I expect water and some odd bits. Instead, I got this: No water, but quite a lot of grey dust in the hollow in the drain plug. Dissolved solder? Dissolved galvanising? Certainly isn't water. I drain the tank of the Tourer on a regular basis, to keep the rust levels down. Never noticed any grey, but will look for it next time. |
