SUMP SILICONE GASKET.
#11
Silicone sump gaskets seem to be the way forward but I took of a sump on Friday that was fitted with such gasket about a year ago . As you can see in the pictures the oil seems to have attacked the silicone and it’s very rubbery and falling off in bits. Don’t think it’s oil pump friendly!! Has anyone else run across the same problem????

I have seen them squeeze out, but never break up.

That is interesting, indeed rather worrying.Did the gasket come from a supplier of cherishness, or if you made it yourself, what spec silicone sheet did you use? What is also surprising is that the youthful Mr Dunford has time to look at the forum. Tis Hogmanay tomorrow, much preparation should be underway.

Just as well you are staying at home, weather forecast has caused Edinburgh to cancel everything except a candle lit  service in St Giles.

Not everything, all the indoor events will go ahead.

It’s just the outdoor ones that have been cancelled.  I’ve never seen the attraction of it, but many will be very disappointed, which is a shame.
