'I have been having problems with my carburettor on my 1935 Ruby and I believe it to be connected to the fuel level in the float chamber as this problem started after I Had renewed the needle valve and washer. Is there an easy way to get the fuel level correct or is it just a matter of trying different thickness washers under the valve until things are correct.

Just an update. I have changed the washer on the needle valve and whilst the carb was off the engine took the opertunity to clean all the jets etc with carb cleaner. It is now back on and all running well without leakage. Thanks Nick.
