6 volt electric cooling fan - Howard Wright - 19-04-2022 Hi All I’m currently running the special without the fan belt and haven’t had any overheating problems. In truth the fan wouldn’t be much use as it’s a good 2” away from the face of the core . However mindful of a hot summer and some steep hills in my itinerary I’m wondering about fitting an electric fan. Trouble is most seem to be 12 volt and taking 80 to 180 Watt. My car is 6 volt. Has anyone used a 12 volt fan at 6 volts and is the drop in fan speed significant when cooling the A7? Before anyone asks the rad core is new, engine waterways fully clear etc etc. Cheers Howard RE: 6 volt electric cooling fan - "Slack Alice" Simon - 19-04-2022 Spacer, and 2 bladed fan Spacer, and 4 bladed fan Spacer, 4 bladed fan, leave the bonnet off if it is a really hot day. Are what I would try before "modern" stuff. RE: 6 volt electric cooling fan - Stuart Giles - 19-04-2022 2 or 4 of these mounted immediately behind the rad core should do the trick without caning the dynamo/battery https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165190817665?hash=item267623d781:g:Ty8AAOSwg1phl1uC RE: 6 volt electric cooling fan - Dave Mann - 19-04-2022 No need to take the bonnet off, you just need a couple of rubber bonnet wedges under the rear edge of the bonnet which were very common 70 years ago. RE: 6 volt electric cooling fan - Michael D - 19-04-2022 I got one like this (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384698370617?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20200818143132%26meid%3D07bad887bacf4e6a84d13b88aabe520f%26pid%3D101198%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D265103104978%26itm%3D384698370617%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLCvipPairwiseWebWithBBEV2bDemotion%26brand%3DSpeedway&_trksid=p2047675.c101198.m1985&amdata=cksum%3A38469837061707bad887bacf4e6a84d13b88aabe520f%7Cenc%3AAQAGAAABEGKzsT%252FaHZba8%252FSLMzzijEmIH65pFVv6a2lPCqw1rYyTmuyuRGpOzCU0M%252Fvov0ZBw1CNWEwb9z73F7xT2ThfQfMRptMv2%252Frc4Pki5WvvfJqwB21%252FZfqA7m278xwYCV%252Be2zWxCtTXey1fPSJ4%252Fb3f55QfQ3ufPIgPoEva9bYy4Z7uK33G3Vog7Wh1klqgPY0jsLpl2SQUwbpp0AMdYstsYvRya8V%252FMF%252F6Y%252BgFv8IVk1gtXe1zzKcuV%252FyTQpjZtJKfdKqftk5XhxcYOiudTPsLajc%252BQ0YqeNNx7iLiLiyui51aTqjHAQdITR2AL1Ns99tFDFDXPl5df%252BRuxcFW8ousFTroBlPlnKvSrCImRW2e7VbH%7Campid%3APL_CLK%7Cclp%3A2047675) works a treat when combined with an in line thermostat relay like this one (https://www.ebay.com/itm/173644226248). also available in 32 millimeters . Mind you: fitted to the front of the radiator of my Rosengart LR4N2 behind that 'fencing mask' radiator shroud.. An A7 might demand deleting the standard fan. RE: 6 volt electric cooling fan - Howard Wright - 19-04-2022 Hi All Thanks for all the comments. I did make up a spacer but when added to a long early coil fan housing it looked a bit strange. I’ve ordered a couple of computer fans and will devise a mounting that is unobtrusive. Once again thanks Cheers Howard RE: 6 volt electric cooling fan - Howard Wright - 20-04-2022 Hi All Thanks for all the comments.
