Flywheel nut - Henry Harris - 30-07-2021

Can anyone confirm the thickness of an original 1 5/16” flywheel nut?
I only have a new one to hand and it’s snagging the recess in the clutch centre.
Thanks.

Henry this is not unusual dome the top of the nut and don't use a lockwasher use locktite. Terry.

Hi both

I’ve not built that many engines but the flywheel nut has had to be “doctored” on all of them. As Terry proposes, locktight, no washer and (in my case) perhaps the lightest touch of the grinder  Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin.

Cheers

Howard

I totally agree with the answers above.

+1. Usually found I've had to do the same when using a new nut.
