Spade ends ht - morrisminor - 12-12-2020 I'm making up new ht leads, solder the little hole on the spade end or not ? RE: Spade ends ht - Dave Wortley - 12-12-2020 Yes because they don't work very well if you crimp them. Cheers, Dave. RE: Spade ends ht - Chris KC - 12-12-2020 I do (and those are words I think twice before uttering). RE: Spade ends ht - Greig Smith - 12-12-2020 "I am" is apparently the shortest complete sentence in the English language "I do" is definitely the longest sentence... Aye Greig RE: Spade ends ht - Howard Wright - 12-12-2020 I have done (Just to be different.) I also use heat shrink cable wrap as it supports the cable and helps prevent vibration fatigue on the copper core. Cheers Howard RE: Spade ends ht - Robert Foreman - 12-12-2020 I never have done and never had any issues. I use a spade bit to open up the hole and push the cable right up to the plug hole. Then crimp in a smooth jaw vice. RE: Spade ends ht - Nick Turley - 13-12-2020 Always RE: Spade ends ht - Bob Culver - 13-12-2020 This was laboured recently. Solder tends to wick up the wires making these rigid and prone to fail esp with manual advance. (Solder should not be used for wires retained by grubscrews as the solder creeps and the screw loosens) Spade lugs look nicely original (I soldered but used the very minimum) RE: Spade ends ht - Andy Bennett - 13-12-2020 The hole filling with solder lets you see the solder has wetted inside nicely. RE: Spade ends ht - A G Wood - 13-12-2020 Search using 'spade end plug leads' as the search term MM. There's even a couple of pics on that thread. |
