fantastic but not cheap - Tony Betts - 05-01-2019 Christmas just a little late today. Had a delivery of 4 cranks and 10 sets of rods. Bee waiting for over three years for these. And this time I GET TO KEEP ONE. [attachment=4993] This is the main ingredient for my idea of a very fast perfect engine. Mine is number 10 from the batch. [attachment=4994] And this is it. A fully counterbalanced HADLEY crank. [attachment=4995] And matching set of HADLEY rods. [attachment=4996] RE: fantastic but not cheap - Ruairidh Dunford - 05-01-2019 Nice one Tony - what will it go in? RE: fantastic but not cheap - Charles P - 05-01-2019 Lovely Tony. The premium Austin 7 crankshaft solution! RE: fantastic but not cheap - Tony Betts - 05-01-2019 Hi R, I travel the usa every year. But it's always been a dream to take say 4 months in a camper with a seven on the back to take in as much as I can. Across the states coast to coast. Including the bonnaville salt flats. Hopefully registering a seven for a run. What I'll put the engine in? I'm not quite sure. Something I already have. Or even, I have an idea for a special, and even some parts ive saved up? And Colin, I'm glad you like the rods. I'm happy to be able to say I had quite a bit of input in the rods being made, along with two other. Peter Pearson, and Tony white. There is more to them, than anyone would realise. Tony. RE: fantastic but not cheap - Ruairidh Dunford - 05-01-2019 Sounds right up my street Tony - are these the same design rods as your previous Hadley ones? Those were a dream to fit. RE: fantastic but not cheap - Tony Betts - 05-01-2019 Hi R, Exactly the same. Usually I only get the rods done at the same time as the counterbalanced cranks. So the rods are out of stock for large periods of time. Well years at a time. They are not cheap to have made, sadly very little profit for me as a business. I used to do the same rod and a standard crank in an 1 5/16 as the kiddy crank and rods. But the cranks are expensive and massively slow to get made. The rods were also not cheap, but did come in a lot quicker. In short a lot of bother for little gain. Tony.
