(The days of the £5 Austin 7 in the scrapyard are long gone )
I had it welded by a local company, and are more than happy with the results, the welder is a full time professional and has friends that own Austin 7's and other vintage cars, so knows what he's doing.

How big is the milling machine that you are going to use to machine it again?

Charles

A few quiet hours with a dremel and ' bobs your uncle'.

As a retired Race Car Engineer, trust me, I've repaired a lot worse than this !!!!

Below was my day job

That’s a superb bit of welding, nice to say a crankcase saved rather than hitting the scrap heap, great job!

The welder was quite impressed by the quality of the alloy, bearing in mind it almost 90 years old.
He is happy to do more repairs, but will only via myself, so I'm happy to act on his behalf, pm for more details.

Good Job,
You found the right guy for the repair.
He knows his craft.

My two laser welded cases will be going onto the Big XYZ CNC mill at work next week.
( The operator has a little bit of slack time )
