I have not used the Saloon since the summer and the mice have gotten in!

They ate the Radweld bottle, the handle from the plyers and loads of wood!

The wood was everywhere - couldn’t work out what they had eaten, until...


   

Is anyone making / selling Ulster 'silencers' and exhaust tailpipes out there at present? A quick review of the usual suspects hasn't yielded anything. Looking for the bog standard 'production' type, nothing fancy. Failing that if anyone can furnish a helpful diagram showing the correct dimensions, bend angles, radii etc. it might improve my chances of knocking one up at home. Thanks.

I owned Austin 7 Chummy, registration KR9277, when I was a student in 1959/1960, and drove it from Dover to Birmingham and back, as well as local trips.  I was surprised to find out from the DVLA that the car is still licensed.  I am keen to talk to the owner of KR9277 to find out its recent history and discuss how it has changed from the heady days of my youth when I owned it - I do know the colour has changed from red to black.
So if you own KR9277, or know the person who does, could you please get in contact.

Can any one give me some tips on how to rematch the  engine (removed for rear core plug replacement) on my 1932 box saloon with the gearbox. I am wondering how to realign the three clutch levers and keep them in place whilst matching the engine to gearbox

I noticed several months ago Duncan grimmond was offering to do a class on bodywork at his workshop.

I've always been interested in bodywork, but never had time. Or trusted my own ability.

So always left it to those who could.

This time, I made time to attend, and gave it a go.

And don't mind saying, I serprised myself with my first attempt. 

The weekend was also made better, because the 6 people who attended were all austin 7 owners from the forum, so we had something in common.

If someone can put Duncan's original thread up, would apreciate it.

If any of you are thinking of attending this course. That is if Duncan is kind enough to offer it again. Don't just think about it, give it a go. You may just serprise yourself. Or realise why others charge so much for there services.

My rubber shock absorber bushes are lasting no time at all. The last set I fitted only lasted four years. Has anyone experience of fitting poly bushes in their place? In my experience of polybushes on a Morris Minor, they last indefinitely.

This was, as I recall, discussed at length(ad nauseam) on the old site, but I can't seem to get back to that thread. I know that many are running straight 30w. The question is, detergent or non detergent? The engine was built by Pigsty and it has been run on Halfords Classic 20/50 until now. The car will be coming to the US, and finding a non detergent oil will be an issue. It is splash fed with a spin on filter mod. The Chevron Delo 400 has phosphorus and zinc in low percentages. I had thought about running that in the gearbox also, but understand that phosphorus and detergents are bad in the gearbox. The phosphorus, I understand, will wear any bronze bushings.

Are there any tricks to getting the cotter pins out of the brake cam levers? I can't even get a good swing at mine because of the bodywork! If I do manage to get the cams and levers apart is the bush a straightforward thing to replace or do you need a press and reaming tools? If you can't replace the bushes with the axle in place I don't think I will bother taking the cotter pins out!

Hi folks. Can anyone help me with lucas part numbers for side enrty caps suitable for a dk4a... I'd ask google, but we have a few trust issues!
