  coupled brakes in 1926?
Posted by: Mark Atkinson - 03-02-2018, 06:53 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (13)

I am just working out the front brake cable routing on Slippery Anne, in the process of which I referred to one of my period chassis photos of Slippery taken in late 1926 or 27. After studying this same picture a thousand times I noticed something ‘new’!
On the brake cross tube I spotted that there is a lever on the centreline with a pushrod or similar going forward. I have no idea to what this was connected, could it be some form of early brake coupling?

Any suggestion will be very welcome.
Regards, Mark.

  Throttle return spring
Posted by: Erich - 03-02-2018, 04:26 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (21)

I have, I think, too many springs. When I was in the UK, the lever on the steering wheel moved freely and stayed where it was left. Now it has too much tension and moves all the way back to the stop. I can find two springs near the carb. One appears to be a pedal return spring listed in the parts catalog. But it is attached to the operating shaft near the carb, and the other end (hooked) presses on the front of the firewall on the NS. The other spring is near that and attached to the carb throttle lever on the carb and then to a hole on the top of the frame rail.

Best,

Erich

Gordon England Cup Model Body Drawings
Posted by: Peter Johnson - 03-02-2018, 03:52 PM - Forum: Sales - Replies (3)

All

I have a set of GE Cup Model body drawings as I was planning to build a body (but decided against it due to lack of time and skills). They are printed on a large format printer and will fit into a large poster tube.

I am happy to send them for the cost of postage (plus a donation to the new engine build?)

All the best

Peter

Wiring diagram - 1930 Mulliner Box Saloon.

Firstly, thank you for accepting my request to join!
So, I’ve just acquired my first Austin Seven, quite late in life. I’m familiar with Sixties classics, but this is something that was always on the wish list. The model is as above, half metal, half rexine(?). It is further unusual in that it has ‘suicide’ doors, rear hinged.
Is there anybody out there with one similar? I have several questions, the first being a request for a wiring diagram. Any assistance would be gratefully  appreciated. Thank you.

  Rp fuel tank
Posted by: Pearls not a Singer - 01-02-2018, 08:18 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (11)

I'm starting to re-assemble my RP after a major rebuild.

The petrol tank was original suspended from u-clips (similar to leaf spring clips) which  are much smaller than the holes in the brackets being barely thicker than wheel spokes. I have doubts that these are original and given the weight  of a full tank of fuel, I'm concerned that these are not up to the job and will give way at an inconvenient moment.

The brackets and clips are not illustrated in the parts book, presumably because they are considered part of the body?

Reminiscences happy or otherwise from anybody who has successfully installed  a tank will be welcome

 Thanks
