Hi All,
I see that every 500 miles, I'm supposed to lube the dizzy drive via the "greaser/oiler". Please forgive a newbie. I can not find the greaser/oiler. There is a small threaded hole which is on the horizontal end of the dynamo drive. Is this it and should it have a grease nipple? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Austinsevenfriends.co.uk problem |

I could be wrong but I really think there is a problem with the link to the website page
Austinsevenfriends.co.uk
as noted before when you go to this page it must be an older version, with a Forum link which leads to the OLD Forum.
To access the NEW Forum from an austinsevenfriends web page you have to go to
austinsevenfriends.com
where the Forum link leads to the NEW Forum.
I am not sure of the relationship between capital A .co.uk site and the lower case a .com site but from a recent exchange on the Austin Seven facebook page they are both still operating.

Valve timing |

I have a standard cam with 3/4" radius followers.Generally speaking, advancing the valve timing will increase power in the lower rev range, the tradeoff being loss of power at the top end.
Does anyone have firsthand experience of varying the timing, if so was it worthwhile, how much advance was given( crankshaft degrees, or inlet valve lift at TDC) and how accurately were the percieved gains measured.
Is the gain because more mixture is being drawn in, or is it that the dynamic compression ratio is increased by virtue of the inlet valve closing early.
Any informed comments would be appreciated.

Fuel Tank Sender Unit |

I was fortunate enough to buy back the 1933 RP Saloon I previously owned 40 years ago & we are now 3 years into a very major restoration. Unfortunately the fuel sender unit had stopped working. Speedograph Richfield kindly offered to have a look at it but they are unable to repair or replace it. I have no criticism of them whatsoever; they would not even charge me for the return postage/packing which they paid for.
However has anyone any suggestions as to how it might (????) be repaired or replaced please. I am not optimistic but as we are trying to do a concurs restoration it would be nice to have a working fuel gauge to go with the re chromed bezel & guage on a restored dashboard.
Many thanks for any suggestions.
Alan.

RN accelerator pedal |

Is the accelerator pedal on an RN box saloon secured to the control spindle with just a clamping action or does the 'clamp bolt' act as a cotter pin?
Looking at the factory List of Spare Parts, publication 888, page 24, the accelerator control spindle (BF36) would appear to have a notch in the end suggesting that the bolt (BF34) fixing on the accelerator pedal (BF1) is actually a cotter.
I am sure someone will know the answer!
Many thanks.

Wheel Balancing |

It would be nice to balance the 19" solid center wheels dynamically on a modern machine but because of the solid center you can't mount the wheel in any way.
This begs the question:
How does one balance the the solid center wheels for Austin Sevens?

VSCC Wiscombe Park Hill Climb, Devon
Wiscombe Park, Southleigh, Colyton, Devon, EX24 6JE
Practice starts 9AM, Competitive runs commence at 1PM
Wiscombe Park provides the beautiful setting for the second round of the VSCC's speed championship. It is a great hill for spectating at, with a diverse range of viewing locations up the hill, all very entertaining. The event and usually sees a good number of 'proper' cars in the car park as well as a number parked in the paddock, and at the top of the hill (over 40 last year), with owners picnicking over lunch time. There are usually a range of autojumble stalls as well.
Standard admission is £12, though discounts are available for VSCC members ordering advance tickets. I seem to recall getting a discount on the gate for showing my membership card, but wouldn't like to guarantee.
More details, from the VSCC or Wiscombe Park Websites

Chassis shortening |

I am basing my special on a six foot three chassis but the one I have is six foot nine so it needs to be shortened. If anyone else has successfully done this, I would be very pleased to hear from them. There may be other problems but the one that has struck me straightaway, is the spring mounting on the axle which is the wide track to suit the longer wheelbase. It is a D type axle which I want to use. Once the chassis is shortened, the axle mounts will be too far outboard and will need modifying.
Any help and advice gratefully received. Thank you.
John
