The charging system in my chummy has again stopped working. The cut out contacts are not closing, but if you manually close them the dynamo starts charging. D+ to earth is 32ohms. D+ to A is open circuit with contacts open 6ohms points closed. Anyone hot any ideas, I’m wondering now about the switch.

With engine running at a speed the cut usually closes what voltage do you have between D and earth and between D on the dynamo and earth? Does the summer charge work on your dynamo? I'm guessing you have a DEL dynamo.

Hi Dave. No, it’s a mag engine so it has a DFL dynamo. Will check voltages tomorrow.

Check the cut-out's earth.

Cut out body is earthed. I’m not convinced that the secondary winding is ok but not sure I’m checking it correctly. Can anyone advise?

The high resistance pull in coil will be in the region of 30 ohms measured between D and earth, if you have a CF1 cut out is the fuse OK?

Our cut-out had poor connections between the copper connectors on the back. I soldered them.
