RH insurance premiums

R H insurance premiums ,I’ve just received my renewal reminder and find the vehicles insured premiums seemed to have jumped significantly on last year,also adding an additional cost for modifications.
Has anyone else found similar,or just me ?
After 40 years or so,from Boncaster days I might need to go elsewhere?

Mine increased by about 12% if I recall. Might be worth calling them. As has been said before they have migrated between systems so some things may have incorrectly transferred or the software might be taking a different view on mods etc. They always seem reasonable to discuss any problems.

Insurance premiums are going up across the board. By all means check around for a better quote, but I'll be surprised if you find a better service for the money. As Andy suggests, it's worth giving RH a call to check your details are correctly recorded & the quote is appropriate.

I have. I asked for a breakdown of cost on each vehicle.
I was told the premium for each vehicle plus an add on for modifications which added a further £100 or so on the 3 vehicles,one non seven.
Last year I paid £263 for 3 7’s,this year for 2 7’s are approximately £340 for 2 , without an addition for modifications.
Any recommendations for other insurers please.

Whilst classic rates have gone up for most clients this year (on average 15-20%), we will always actively work with our clients to identify whether there are ways in which we can reduce rate. For example, reviewing vehicle value (without being under-insured!), usage and mileage, etc.

I found that Hagerty were noticeably cheaper than RH, gave great service (although you never really know until you claim) and the cover fits my needs.
I very much admire Emma's commitment to her employer but it does worry me that so much seems to be repeatedly fixed by her interventions, rather than just working properly first time.

I moved from RH to Hagerty because we failed to resolve the matter over Public Liability cover. RH said we don't need Public Liability and it should be provided by event organisers, but event organisers say that to bring our cars we must have Public Liability cover.

Due to a crash that was not my fault I had to claim from Hagerty recently and I cannot fault the claims service.

The strange bit with Hagerty is to do with what use we can use historic cars for. Among other exceptions it includes... The vehicle must not be available for the regular use by you or a named insured person.

What on earth does that mean???

In this at least, RH are correct. Public Liability Insurance at an event is a matter for the organisers of that event. If they don't have it and say that it is a matter for the individual entrants and make you sign to that effect then they have passed their Public Liability responsibilities onto you. You might have control of your own actions but potentially you're taking on the responsibilities for the actions of others. Simple rule. If the organisers don't have Public Liability Insurance in place for their event, don't go. If you do go, it's no good complaining if it all goes wrong and you have to sell your house to meet a claim that should have been the liability of the organisers.
