Radius arm ball joint
#1
I am trying to fix my horrible brake judder., starting at the ball joint for the front axle radius arms.

I have a new set of brass cups, with bolt and spring.

The bolt that has come out is 5/16",  the radius arms and cups drilled to match.

The replacements are 3/8" - I assume to compensate for wear in the holes in the radius arm ends.

So I will have to drill the arm ends.

Is there any reason why I should not?

I know this is trivial, but this is the nearest to a "proper" Austin I have.

Running a special for many years (where you can do what you like), I don't like mucking about with originality.

The original radius arm bolt was 3/8" diameter waisted in the middle to 5/16" to allow it to swivel on the ball and cups see photo it on Austin Seven components catalog so you shouldn't need to drill anything out.
