Rad cowl strengthening bar
#1
I recall there was a discussion recently about a bar that fits across the back of the radiator and strengthens the cowl. A search doesn't seem to turn up what I recall. I'll note that Chris Gould's Ulster book says that the clearance between the radiator and fan should be 1/8th inch which doesn't seem to allow enough room.

The bar is arched to clear the fan, I don't have a picture to hand but can take one

Thank you, Ian. I would like to see it, along with rough dimensions.

The brace depicted in Ruairidh's picture is made from 1 5/8" x 1/8" mild steel flat bar, and the bow is 2'' high, easy enough to make.

Just wondering if Gordon England cars with
headlamps bolted directly to the cowl
Used a strengthening bar?

My car has CAV lamps( NOS!) but I still
Have to fit them.
